The second destination for 2016 goes to Caramoan! Caramoan is found in Camarines Sur (CamSur) in Bicol Region. We had our land travel approximately 13 hours via van (yeah, kinda exhausting) to reach our destination for the island hopping.
Our only activity is island hopping (so sad I didn’t take note of all the island’s name 😦 ). Starting our trip from Manila at around 10pm, we reached our place to stay at about lunch time the next day. The town where we stayed is not that civilized and no big establishments yet such as hotels and the like. Our place is like an apartment style building which is very near to the beach for the docking area.
Sands are perfect. Very white and soft. Many rock formations in the surrounding. To appreciate more the islands, you can watch our video which link is at the end of the blog. 🙂
Some islands are very small, but this is the island where we enjoyed the water and swim.
The next day, we went to an island where we enjoyed the sandbar.
Next on the tour is the island with floating Nipa huts/cottages where you can hang out and enjoy the very beautiful ocean view! Water level is not the high here so you can walk & swim around the area (but it can get itchy and there are small jellyfish too).
There are also people who catch seafood on the spot and sell it to the tourists. They can grill it for you too.
What we bought are squids fresh from the grills.
Sea creatures are abundant we also caught a jellyfish (can be found at the vid which link is below the page). But of course, freed it after. Haha
One of the locals even showed us his catch. An unknown fish. 😛
An afternoon hang-out in this floating cottage is really relaxing.
After the island hopping, we went to the grotto called Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, Mother of Peace Grotto in Caramoan. Will took 524 stair steps to reach the top.
Your tiredness will go away because of this very rewarding view. The place is very solemn and peaceful. You’ll feel you’re at the top of the world. Super worth it! 🙂
What a grateful way to end the day! 🙂 This Caramoan trip is one of a kind experience. Your eyes and soul will be filled by the heavenly nature creations. A rest from the city buzz will be felt because of the simplicity of the town. And this trip also includes going to SM Naga where we tasted the local Sili ice cream at 1st Colonial restaurant! Yeah an ice cream made from chili peppers with different kind of hotness level (1-3). But there is also unique heavenly flavor such as the Pili nuts mixed in Vanilla which I really enjoyed. Thank you Caramoan!
In addition, we were transferred to a different place on our last night because of schedule conflict. Here is a photo of the place so you can know how most of the accommodations look like. There are still improvements needed in facilities such as the restroom. 🙂
As a tip, I think it is better to go to Caramoan not on a land travel alone because it will really tire you especially on the numerous zigzag roads.
